About us

I love my land...

"If I were asked why a successful entrepreneur already established in the construction, road safety, textile and advanced tertiary sectors decides to invest in the wine sector, the answer could only be one: I love my land. I love it because I have a never dormant attachment to my origins, I am first of all the son of farmers, with a childhood and adolescence spent running around the fields among humble and honest people in Torrecuso, where I was born and where I live directing my activities. Only those who have grown up and live in contact with the earth, with the sun, with the air and with the water, only those who have a healthy culture of work will be able to tell the generations to come, and first of all to their children , the strong emotions that are all one with the sweat and harshness of work in the fields. To merge these feelings with the most modern technology, with experience and professionalism, with the desire to produce and commercialize co lviviality, quality, emotions, it was an almost obligatory step for those like me who for years have had as their primary objective that of making our territory known in Italy and in the world".

The vineyards and the wines

The province of Benevento has been producing excellent grapes for excellent wines for centuries and represents about 40% of the vineyard area of the Campania Region. If, as we believe, "wine is made in the vineyard", our vineyards express this noble concept with stubborn determination: our real strength, in fact, is made up of a mix of soil quality, exposure, altitude and care for the vineyard. Here are our vines: Aglianico del Taburno, in such quantities as to allow us a careful selection in the vineyard for the various sales lines and to guarantee us the production of wines of the highest quality such as the Riserva, whose grapes come from a vineyard of about seventy years of age. Falanghina del Taburno, whose vineyard exposure guarantees us an optimal result in terms of sugar content, aromas and acidity of the wine without having to resort to cuts during processing. For the moment we select the Greco and Fiano vineyards outdoors to be used for our productions, imposing strict and meticulous cultivation regulations on the producers: once the land and the relative vineyards have been identified, these are followed in all the fundamental steps up to collection that takes place under our supervision. Finally, we proudly point out our flagships: the sparkling Falanghina, the sparkling Aglianico and our highly prized "Maleventum", a brut of Falanghina obtained with the long charmat method

The territory

Torrecuso, where La Fortezza is located, extends on the eastern side of the Taburno-Camposauro Regional Park: the slopes are a continuous alternation of vineyards, woods and small clearings, from which the profile of Monte Taburno subtracts light only in the last hours of the day and heat. Here the work of man, the diligent action of the farmer has not devastated, has not invaded, has not disfigured. A territory, ours, harsh and at the same time generous. Those who decide to understand, deepen, know, will be able to understand the deepest meaning of Samnite pride in the attachment we have for our land: awareness and dimension of a freedom that was once only the desire to defend one's land from the Roman armies, but which today is attachment for what it represents and expresses in terms of culture, folklore and productions.

La Cantina

At the center of the vineyards stands the beating heart of our business: the cellar. Entirely covered in stone and well integrated into the surrounding landscape, it consists of two bodies. In the upper part, a villa and large open spaces mainly intended for lawns: an enchanting place with a wonderful view reaching out towards the Apennines that separate Campania from Puglia. The body below, which opens beyond two medieval-style doors rigorously worked in solid wood, houses the actual production activity: a perfect blend of tradition and modern technology. The barrel vaults, which overlook the area intended to house the aging of the wine, entirely covered in terracotta bricks and partly dug into the tuff, bring us back to an idea of a cellar close to what were the old "cellai" of rural farms, that is to say to those places that were destined for the conservation of both wine and food. The processing room, where the winemaking machinery is located, the bottling and labeling room, the steel tanks and the warehouse for the goods intended for marketing complete the cellar, with a production potential of around two million bottles.
